Rev Dr Michael Jensen, one half of the WADR Team, is the rector of St Marks Anglican Church Darling Point, a parish very close to Bondi Beach in Sydney which he visits most days. Here is his prayer written just hours after the 14th December mass shooting at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia, during a Chanukah celebration hosted by the Chabad of Bondi.
Sovereign Lord, God of justice and peace, we bring you once more our Advent cry: ‘Come’. Come with your grace and mercy, come with your justice and your peace, come to remove such violence and hatred from your world, and come to provide comfort for the grieving and the wounded. Turn aside the plots and plans of evil men. Give strength and clarity of mind to governments and police forces. Bring light in the darkness of this day, for the sake of your great name, and in the name of Jesus, Amen.
